Capacity Building Days 2019 in Athens, Greece

After the successful Future is Heritage Summit in 2018, Europa Nostra, Erfgoed Brabant and Erfgoed Gelderland (NL) have joined forces in organising a working conference: The Capacity Building Days on youth participation in European heritage management. The conference offered a programme focused on interregional exchange and ways to improve opportunities for young people who are active in the European heritage field. A small summary of this exciting project.

The Capacity Building Days 2019 took place in Athens, Greece, from June 17 – 20. The programme included local case-studies, excursions and debate sessions and will focus on themes such as:

● Urban or rural heritage-led revitalisation ● Heritage & civic activism ● Social inclusion through heritage management ● Contested Heritage

During the programme, we explored ways to strengthen a Europe-wide network of young heritage professionals, students and volunteers.

Since March 2019 I have been part of the core organising team for the Capacity Building Days 2019, alongside Anne-Wil Maris and Monique Groot from Erfgoed Brabant. My assignment from Erfgoed Brabant included managing the project plan and time schedule, all communications, conference content and the management of the CBD project team consisting out of 9 volunteers.

Organising partners: Europa Nostra and Erfgoed Brabant, Erfgoed Gelderland, together with Dutch and Greek partner organizations, the Provinces Gelderland and Noord-Brabant. The Capacity Building Days are co-organized in the frame of Europa Nostra’s network project co-funded by the Creative Europe programme.
